Sara is a newcomer to Canada who is eager to show her entrepreneurial skills and help create economic development in Calgary. She has had experience back in her home country of Colombia with small food businesses and wants to apply her skills to help the local economy by creating employment, empowering women and supporting local entrepreneurs.
Sara participated and won the Venture Quest contest at her educational institution of Bow Valley College for a solid business idea, showing leadership, outperforming with her outgoing personality , demonstrating a sound social impact and overall eagerness to establish a local business for the benefit of Albertans.
Sara focuses on bringing the best and freshest ingridients into the WafflePops menu by keeping in mind the greatest customer experience. At WafflePops Sara is in charge of customer relations, the production line, menu creation and the list goes on.
John has lived in Canada for over two decades and comes from an oil/gas background. He believes in supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs by buying local products. He believes ideas like this help shift the trend of our current economic downturn by sourcing everything locally and helping the local economy. John has also witness the effects of the recession first hand both in 2008 and 2015, and believes that the key to overcome economic uncertainty is by bringing unique ideas that Albertans would enjoy while creating local growth.
John and Sara participated and achieved their target in the Alberta BoostR competition hosted by ATB Financial to promote local business ideas and receive crowd funding.
John focuses on partnering with the local vendors to create WafflePops' products. At WafflePops John is in charge of vendor/supplier relations, overall operations, event planning and the list also goes on.
